Breaking and Entering Live Show | August 26th
Hello advertising!
We are back for the midweek show and today was stacked!
We just officially announced the 2026/27 Crowbar Awards! But, this time there is a MASSIVE twist. The winners of the Blue Crowbar Award will get a paid internship at BBDO. We could not be more excited about this opportunity. We brought on JP Palmer, SVP Group Strategy Director at BBDO Chicago and Josh Gross, Chief Creative Officer at BBDO Chicago to hear their advice for the Dove Men brief. If you are interested in applying, or know someone who might be, head over to https://crowbar-awards.vercel.app/#how-it-works and watch the interview from today’s show to see some great advice on the brief.
We also took a look at some cool stories. Mac released an awesome BTS of their stop motion ad for the Mac Mini. Athleta released their first campaign with the help fo Invisible Dynamics. Duke’s Mayonnaise is holding a creative review with 4 agencies. And, a copywriter is posting daily on LinkedIn trying to get Subaru to let them make a campaign.
Eric Toda, former CMO of Air HQ came on to talk about their recent stunt. Very reminiscent of our own Ellie posting about her CEO* position on LinkedIn, Eric became the CMO of Air for about 6 to 7 hours. The whole thing is being brought to life through a social series. This stunt wasn’t just a fun little moment. Eric, who has formerly held some insanely impressive positions at major companies, explains the entire strategy behind the stunt and why they decided now is the best time for something like this.
Jack Raines, Author of Young Money, a self help book aimed, but not limited to, people in there 20s joined us to talk about his unique marketing strategy. Instead of the classic book marketing techniques, Jack decided to promote his book on places like Hinge. Yes, the dating app. His approach is a great case study on marketing using unorthodox approaches.
Finally, Leslie Shaffer, CCO of Fallon joined to talk about the awesome comeback that Fallon has been on. With a Super Bowl spot, work with Disney, and some other awesome campaigns, this interview is such a gold mine of insight on how to reframe something in order to WIN!
If you missed the show check it out at the link above! We will see you tomorrow at 12 PM ET. Trust me you do NOT want to miss this show. I wonder who may be showing up tomorrow? ⬇️
