Martha Teams Up With Starbucks, New Wendy's CMO, and Callaway Controversy

PSL SEASON IS BACK!!! GO GRAB YOUR LATTES

Breaking and Entering Live Show | August 25th

Good afternoon advertising! Some major industry shifts have happened since we left off last week.

First off, Tariq Hassan, former CMO at McDonald’s has taken position as CMO at Wendy’s. Wendy’s has been struggling as of late, and we spoke about how this move, and Tariq’s approach to a CMO role might be just what Wendy’s needs to get back on their feet.

Along with this, we watched a pretty disturbing social ad from the golf creator group Good Good. In this spot promoting their new driver collab with Callaway, Garret Clark, one of the Good Good members is seen shoving a woman who tries to touch his golf club.

We spoke about the demin game for a bit. TateMcRae came out has just worked with Calvin Klien, drawing attention to the other comps in the category like Gap (Who we think is still the king as of now) as well as J. Crew (who seems a little more unsure of their positioning).

Lego had a record sales quarter after releasing over 300 sets just in the first half of this year alone. Focused a lot on their world cup and F1 sets/marketing, the toy brand has continued to boom in the industry.

Then, friend of the program Adam Faze, executive producer at Gymnasium joined to talk about their new social series with Figma called “Source Material”. in the (longer form) video famous designers bring physical items they use for inspiration and talk about how it shapes their creative process and taste.

Jackson Ozark, Creative Director at Conscious Minds brought the Pumpkin Spice Latte back in season with a recent Starbucks spot featuring Martha Stewart and actor Bellmont Cameli. It’s a hilarious spot that lets Martha be Martha and preps the PSL drinkers for the fall season.

Finally, Reid Litman, Consulting Director at Ogilvy wrapped up the show with and incredible study about Gen Z. There are so many misconceptions about Gen Z, and every marketer is trying to reach them. Reid brought to light the truth about their behavior, habits, and marketing strategies that can address them in the best way.
